Treatment with the Restylane family of products may pose risks and may not be suitable for everyone. You should not use the Restylane family of products if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you are under 18 years of age. You should not use Restylane-L, Perlane-L, or Restylane Fine Lines-L if you have a hypersensitivity to local anesthetics of the amide type, such as lidocaine. The most common side effects of treatment are swelling, redness, pain, itching, discolouration, and tenderness at the injection site. This will typically last less than a week. Temporary lumpiness has also been observed in some patients. Like any injection in the skin, the implantation of the Restylane family of products carries a risk of infection.
